Places are limited and will be allocated according to the following criteria:
- UK-based: Applicants must be students at UK universities or UK residents.
- Age: Applicants must be over the age of 18 to take part in the hackathon.
- Skill level: Teams will be created with a balance of skill levels and experience. Some familiarity with quantum programming is required.
- Motivation: applicants are asked to provide a short statement outlining their motivation for taking part in the hackathon. This will be considered when allocating places.

The UK Quantum Hackathon is part of the NQCC’s SparQ programme, aimed at exploring and raising awareness of the current capabilities and limitations of quantum computing technology, as well as nurturing the talent pipeline and convening stakeholders. The hackathon provides students and researchers an opportunity to tackle real-world problems set by user organisations. There will be prizes for the top three teams, as determined by a panel of judges. More information on the UK Quantum Hackathon 2025 can be found here: UK Quantum Hackathon 2025 - NQCC
