Overview

Introduction

UK Research and Innovation’s (UKRI) strategy Transforming tomorrow together describes our ambition to make the UK a world-class environment for talented people and teams. The UK’s highly skilled research and innovation workforce is a huge national asset. Investment in people and skills is critical to the UK’s continued success in research and innovation.

Our vision is for a thriving research and innovation system, connected and powered by the people who work and study within it. Talented individuals and teams need the freedom to follow their ideas across disciplinary and sector boundaries. Creating welcoming, positive, and inclusive cultures where people and their ideas can flourish will maximise the potential of this talent, so that everyone can benefit from the UK’s investments in research and innovation.

In order to create and strengthen networks with a positive and inclusive culture across sectors, disciplines and geographies, UKRI are planning to hold a new ‘Enhancing Research Leadership Symposium’ in March 2025.

This high profile, in-person event will connect mid and senior researchers from across UKRI investments, will focus on catalysing interdisciplinary networks and collaborations, and creating a multi-disciplinary community of practice. It will offer a substantial opportunity for participants to develop new leadership thinking, enhance their leadership practice, build new interdisciplinary networks and benefit from reciprocal learning and peer to peer support.
