UKRI Interdisciplinary Assessment College

Closes 20 Jun 2023

Opened 25 Apr 2023

Results expected 21 Jul 2023

Overview

UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) are inviting applications from across the research system for panel chairs and panel members for a new “Interdisciplinary Assessment College” (IAC). This is a unique opportunity to be part of an important new approach to funding interdisciplinary research.

The college will support the new UKRI cross research council responsive mode pilot scheme, which is designed to support new interdisciplinary ideas emerging from the research community outside current disciplinary boundaries. This will open a new route for research ideas that transcend, combine or significantly span disciplines. More information on the pilot scheme can be found on the UKRI website here: https://www.ukri.org/opportunity/ukri-cross-research-council-responsive-mode-pilot-scheme/

Applications to the college are open to everyone with experience of interdisciplinary research, from academic and non-academic backgrounds (including business, public and third sector organisations), and from across the diverse range of roles needed for successful research (including, for example, technicians and professional services). We are seeking college members from early, mid and late career stages. Further information on who we are looking for (including the person specification), the role of panel chairs and panel members, and how we will assess your application can be found here: https://www.ukri.org/about-us/work-for-us/join-an-advisory-committee-panel-or-network/ukri-interdisciplinary-assessment-college/

Members of the college will still be eligible to apply for funding through the UKRI research council responsive mode pilot scheme.

To apply, please complete this short survey. It includes questions about your career history,  experiences and expertise, and your motivation for joining the college. It includes a Résumé for Research and Innovation (R4RI) section. General guidance on the R4RI can be found here: https://www.ukri.org/apply-for-funding/before-you-apply/resume-for-research-and-innovation-r4ri-guidance/. Specific guidance on how to complete the R4RI modules for the application to the Interdisciplinary Assessment College is provided within the survey and will be covered in further detail in the webinars. Equality, diversity and inclusion data will also be collected for monitoring purposes.

This survey has a "save and come back later" feature allowing you to return to a previously saved incomplete survey response at a later date (but before the closing date). You must have cookies enabled in your web browser to use this feature.

Closing date: 16:00 on Tuesday 20 June 2023. Please ensure that your application has been submitted before this time.

We are holding two identical webinars for prospective college applicants. Further details and links are provided in the Events and Related sections below.
