This is the main section of the application and provides key information that we will use to assess your application. Please ensure you write clearly and accessibly, and address the specific questions posed in the application form.

Types of impact we are looking for

Examples of the types of impact our team are looking for, but can be more expansive than this list and the impact can be cross-sectoral, are:

  • Business and enterprise impact: Brought about changes in the UK and/or US business sector. This can be everything from changing business practices and commercialisation to creating an entirely new industry, including through market innovation.
  • Public policy impact: Brought about changes in practice, thinking or capacity within public policy at the local, regional, national or international government level that have benefited individuals, organisations or sectors involved in designing, delivering or using public services.
  • Societal impact: Contributed benefits to a specific group of the public or society more widely in the UK or the US.
  • Early career impact: Early career researchers who have achieved outstanding impact in any of the areas listed here and/or those not listed because of collaborating with US and/or UK based collaborators.
  • Transformational impact: Brought about radical improvement or replaced existing solutions. The work enabled capabilities that were previously impossible/impractical.

This list should not be treated as exhaustive. If your work has an outstanding impact that does not fit into the categories described above, we also welcome your application.
