Expression of Interest - Japan-UK Joint call for collaborations in Advanced Connectivity Technologies
Overview
This Expression of Interest (EoI) form can be completed by either the UK Project Lead or the Japan Project Lead of the same proposal. It is recommended that both Project Leads discuss and agree on the collaborative partnership before submitting the EoI.

UK applicants must be based at a UK research organisation eligible for Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) funding. For guidance on EPSRC eligibility, please contact future.communications@epsrc.ukri.org.
Japanese applicants must be eligible for National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT) funding. For guidance on NICT eligibility, please contact info-itaku@ml.nict.go.jp.
Funding available:
EPSRC has a total of £3.37 million (100% FEC) for this activity and the NICT has a total of ¥600 million for this activity. Funding will be available for approximately three research projects.
Applications should adhere to the following country-specific requirements:
- UK budget requests should be up to £897,000 (80% of the FEC) per proposal and Japanese budget requests should be up to ¥200 million per proposal
The EoI will be used by EPSRC and NICT to:
- understand the anticipated volume of applications
- identify suitable reviewers and panel members for the peer review process
- check for potential conflicts of interest
